Look Out October 3!

Mon Sep 28, 2009, 2:38 PM
Well time sure dose fly by, 10 months went and gone. Now I’m moving back to the state or sunshine and stupidity! Yup Arizona here I come. October third can be any closer and yet I wish it will never come. I had some good time and some bad time out there. All in all, it was an enjoyable stay there. Made some great friends whom I’m gonna catch up with. Besides the heat the weather was nice and the abundance of convenience store was also nice. I'm going to miss all this free time I have, but getting a pay check sounds nicer. Hopefully it will go better than the freelance web stuff i tried a while back. Going head out there to try and find a job, kick some ass, and get some people to get working again.

I have been busy the past few months with a few projects. One is an iPhone game which is starting to slow down do to the lack of work from the team. Hopefully when I move down to AZ, things will pick back up. Gonna whip some butts to get this thing moving. Also been apart of a mod group, can’t say much but I like where this one is going. Was iffy for a while but things are looking up. They have a strong leader who is finally taking charge. This is also the reason I haven’t been submitting anything recently. Most of my time goes to the mod and the iPhone projects. There is also Electric Flannel, which just finished up with their game “Destination Unknown” for the apple apps store. It isn’t out yet, but the game is finished. It should be out soon.

Well I’m gonna get back to packing and back to life!

EDIT: Oh yeah, I'm on facebook now, but I'm not giving you a link. You have to find me! Tehe ;)

Switching tracks, just a tad!

So I have been having some trouble with the factory scene, what with the specular and normal maps causing me a lot of trouble. They seem to create lines in the meshes when I mirror assets. Sometimes it is the specular map, others it is the normal map. A few were both!!! So I decided to take a break from it and work on some individual assets and come back to the factory later. I’m kicking it off with a file cabinet. Hazza!!! I’ll keep working on other assets to my hearts content until I figure out the seams issue. So keep an eye out for them. I think I will make a bookshelf next, hmmmm?

Even more waiting!

Sun Jun 21, 2009, 6:20 AM
So I'm still waiting to hear from people about getting websites started and others finished. To add to this waiting I'm also waiting to hear back from an employer about a real job! Which my last only 3 to 6 months if I get it. Then I have to pay out of my pocket a plane trip from Ohio to Arizona. Yeah! I'm getting ready to import my assets base into the unreal 3 engine. Unfortunately if I do move, I can't take my desktop with me on da plane. So importing a finished piece for unreal may take a while. I can render it in max, won't be game worthy and can't use the glow maps I have been making but it would look more kick ass!

On a different note there was a massive 15 minute thunderstorm what took out a tree in the backyard. You can see pictures of it over here. ([link]) Ah the power of weather!!!! Also my lump on my spine turned out to be an infected cyst. For those who care

Back to life I guess!

EDIT: I never said what job I was going for. It was a quality assurance tester job for D3 publishing. On a sadder note I got a "letter", yes paper and ink letter, from them saying "We are impressed with your qualifications: however, we have decided to pursue another candidate whose qualifications more closely meet our needs." Oh well this clears up some things I guess.

The last time I wrote in my journal I had a list of what I was doing. Let’s compare then to now!!!

#1:. Spending my days boringly surfing the web
I don’t really surf anymore for no real reason now. Some times it is for finding new textures on cgtextures.com, to check eMails, or even to look for reference for new things to model! Mostly it has been to listen to MST3K episodes whilst I model.

#2:. Thinking of what to model in 3DsMax
Well if you have been paying attention to my gallery, you can see what I decided to model next! Some base in the side of a hill. I am really happy on how it is going. When some more assets finished, it shall be imported into unreal 3 engine! If anyone has a cool name for the base, let me know. I haven’t named it yet.

#3:. Watching movies
This has changed to playing video games. I have been exploring the wasteland of Fallout 3 to further find more guns/ammo/caps to add to my supplies. I have enough to start my own army. It is funny because I am a good character yet I hoarding so much food and supplies it isn’t funny. The game lags for a few seconds when I open any storage device to add more supplies. I’m also trying to bear Resistance 2 on superhuman.

#4:. Going though my old stuff for a garage sale at the beginning of June
Had the sale, made some money, sold the rest of the quality crap at an action house (made even less money). Now this sounds like a great thing, getting money! However it is spent in mass because I developed a lump near my spine four days ago. I am heading to the doctor’s to have it checked out. It has been causing me a great deal of pain for the past few days. So poopy…

#5:. Still waiting on eMails so I can continue to work on projects which will get me paid
Still waiting… Except for one, it was cancelled do to lack of funds for their organization.

Four out of five changes isn’t that bad! Especially when the first three are for the better! I just hope the lump isn’t to serious. I have heard a lot of things from a lot of people. It might be lipoma, cancer, slipped disk; someone even said it was a spider bite. I don’t believe that one until I start crawling up walls. LOL!

Well back to life!

What to do, what to do, what to do...

Wed May 13, 2009, 8:51 AM
So what have I been doing, well not very much to tell the truth. Days have been spent boringly surfing the web, thinking of what to model in 3DsMax next, watching movies, going though my old stuff for a garage sale at the beginning of June, and waiting on eMails so I can continue to work on projects which will get me paid. It seems like a lot but in reality it is a very lazy schedule.

So to change things up I decided to look back at my old school work and see if I can redo something. Maybe make an old unreal level better or find a model I never finished. I got a lot of those! Then I found an old flash game I made called HAMSTER WARS! ([link]) You play a hamster trying to stop an alien force from invading the world! It was simple and most of the actionscript 2.0 seems strange to me as I look it over. It seems like a good place to try and do something with my time! Think it would be interesting to make it look like an old Nintendo game. Yet this might be getting ahead of myself I believe I should relearn actionscript 2.0 first! Thanks to Conquerernad for the idea of reworking the flash game.

As for modeling, I want to do something with metal in it, just not sure what yet. I have been told my metal texturing lacks a certian something. I was thinking of a sci-fi hallway on a space ship. I could do some nice metal there also some interesting hologram shaders inside of unreal 3. Also got the idea from valinX to do an oil rig. Lots of metal there, plus I can work on making water inside of unreal 3.

As for a job I have some freelance work but it goes back to the waiting on eMails before it pays. Plus every time I call DeAnne (career advisor from college) to see if she can get a hold of the people I doing jobs for, she seems to ignore me. It really is disturbing when she use to bug me all the time freelance web jobs. Now it seems the roles have flipped. Wonder if that would be considered karma or her just being a bitch? As for a job out of the house, not having a car really hurts me to look outside of town. Plus the closet town being a 15 -20 minuet car drive away really takes a toll on me when doing it by BIKE.

Still not sure what I should do next but something will reveal itself it always dose!
